[ Think of a safe word, hm? Kazu tucks his device away and sets off for the Down, thinking the whole trip what he might use. When he arrives at the bar he's still at a loss, and also realizing he didn't ask for a description of Kyle to know who he's meeting. He's the owner, right? Manager, at least..?
Once inside Kazu heads for the bar, signaling to the employee behind it. ]
[ Oh. Hello, there. Why is everyone in this city so attractive? Kazu inclines his head politely as he considers whether or not he wants a drink... normally he wouldn't turn one down, but in this case afterwards might be better. Dulling his senses seems besides the point. ]
[ He offers a bright smile, warm and friendly as he leans in against the bar to consider the other man. ]
I take it you haven't been here long? You seemed a bit surprised by the messages. They've done things like that before. Always annoying though. Like the dating app thing.
Not long at all, no, I arrived with the last orientation group.
[ So it's only been a few weeks and despite Kazu's natural adaptability... this place is still kind of a lot to adjust to. Kyle seems just as nice in person as he was over text, at least. Enough that he's comfortable admitting he has no idea what the other man is referring to. ]
Damn. I hope it's working out for you. It is better for some than their worlds but not everyone.
Not regularly on the device. Every other month the D/s Finder pops up with ads for us all. Some say you can write your own but I've never tried. I figure they'll just twist whatever I say but it's often the worst things. Playing you up as a sluttier than you are, or revealing secrets. Why I don't keep many.
For the most part it's objectively better than my world. That doesn't necessarily make things easier, but since we don't have a choice I am making it work.
[ The sympathy earns a tiny nod of acknowledgement, as Kazu isn't sure how to reply in words. It's not like he could go back if he wanted to, but since Kyle is already looking worried it would probably only make matters worse to shrug it off with the explanation that he's dead anyway. ]
If there's no avoiding it, I guess I'll just have to wait and see what they come up with. Hopefully no one takes them too seriously?
Most are pretty much accepting that it's going to happen and the intent is to make people look bad and not the truth.
I suspect kind of like these latest messages they've sent out. A means of keeping us off guard, and if they're lucky, getting us to get naked. Mostly these seems to be working though.
[ ...whelp. This sure is the uncertain expression of a guy who hasn't actually done much past the basics before. He shakes his head, a bit sheepishly. ]
No. I guess warm?
[ That's the only thing on the list he has any experience with, and even then it's a stretch. ]
[ Another head shake, though he seems to be getting progressively more comfortable admitting his inexperience since Kyle's not making him feel awkward about it. ]
No. My opportunity for those sort of things has been... very limited, until now.
[ Maybe that needs a bit of explanation? Kazu shrugs one shoulder, offering a bit of a smile for the first time since he came in. More of a smirk, really, but there's good humor in it. ]
Military barracks aren't the best place to get experimental. I speak from other people's unfortunate experience.
[ Years? Kyle isn't the first who's admitted to being stuck here for so long, but he's a bit reluctant to admit just how much he hopes that's the case for him too. Putting that into words might give people the wrong idea. Or the right one, and then they'd pity him.
The next question pulls Kazu out of those less fun thoughts. He takes a moment to actually picture the things Kyle's describing, and find his mind fills in the blanks of the scenarios in very specific ways. Appealing ones. How molten wax might flow across his skin, and for some reason a variety of ways to get it off. A razor's the first thing that comes to mind, a sharp edge scraping over heat-sensitized skin. Or maybe someone's nails... his gaze flicks down to Kyle's hands to see if that's likely before he catches himself, a soft flush rising to his cheeks as he starts wondering if that's how the other man would spank someone. Probably not, right? He must have some sort of paddle? But they are nice hands. Surgeon's hands, he knows now. Strong and steady, just like Val's...
...he is getting both very flustered and very off track now. What was the question, exactly? ]
Um. Yes. I mean-- not the revulsion.
[ Talking about these things so plainly is still difficult, but hopefully Kyle will take some pity on him. ]
[It isn't just words Kyle is looking for but reaction as well. Watching where Kazu's gaze goes and the look on his face. Listening for the beat of his heart, and even the way the timbre in their voice might change.
And he is rewarded in that, nodding at the reaction he has in that moment. And while Kyle understands his answer, he isn't going to be exactly kind either. ]
You know, they make candles here that have different burn temperatures. So you can start with something warming to things that are much hotter. You can get different colors and use them to make someone a living work of art. There's even magical ones that are cooling.
[ His voice is soft, almost promising these things as he paints a picture with words. ]
Imagine laying down lines in maybe red, just on the edge of being too much, too warm for tender skin... and then carefully scrapping it away.
[ Even as he asks, he lightly drags his nails over the wood. ]
And then lay lines of white over it, enchanted to be cooling. If you're okay with magical items, that is.
[ Kyle is rewarded further as he describes the scenario -- he's got Kazu's full attention, the younger man hanging on every word to build the scene in his mind. He can picture it vividly, though now he's imagining himself as the one holding the candles. Trailing lines of color and heat that raise a flush to his partner's skin, the areas he'd dare to cover and the trust and reaction he'd get removing it...
Then Kyle asks if he's okay with magic, and the scene abruptly flips as he remembers that he came here to try things. This isn't just a brainstorming session or an academic lecture, they could actually do it. His pulse speeds up, fluttering with a mix of nerves and arousal that Kyle can definitely recognize with how Kazu shifts his weight and licks his lips. This man is not subtle. His eyes cut to the side as he checks if anyone's looking their way, then focus back on Kyle. ]
Can we go upstairs? I'm okay with-- ah. All of that, actually.
[ The different temperatures, magic candles, pretty much whatever Kyle is willing to show him, yes, go for it. Okay is not the word he should be using, not when it's going to be noticeable as they move away from the bar that he's turned on just thinking about it. ]
[ Kyle's gaze is teasing but intent, watching to see what reaction he gets for his words. They're games he hasn't always played, both in the use of wax but also in the way he's drawing this out, wanting to draw in the other's attention. Wanting him to want him.
And it seems like he's doing a pretty good job of it.
So when agrees to it all, he can't help but to smile as he offers his hand to the other man. ]
[ Right... he can do this. It's not like he's never messed around with strangers before. Tilting his chin up in an attempt to look more confident than he feels, Kazu takes Kyle's hand and follows where he's led.
And if he's walking a bit stiffly, surely no one will notice so long as he pretends everything's normal. ]
[A combination of years as a doctor and time in this place, and Kyle has learned to notice things. If someone is hurting. If they're drugged. If things are off.
So he doesn't say anything at first, not until they get upstairs to one of the private room. He pauses at the door. ]
You sure you want to do this? We can keep talking.
[ They come to a stop in front of a door, and even though he was the one to ask to go upstairs... Kyle gives him an out. ]
You're very perceptive, doctor.
[ He's still holding Kyle's hand, and gives it a grateful little squeeze. ]
I appreciate the concern. I'm sure, it's just... against my instincts, you might say? But I'd prefer the first time to be on my own terms rather than the city's.
[ That may have been misleading, he realizes, and tilts his head towards the door. ]

Is Mr Valenti in?
no subject
I'm Mr Valenti, but please. Kyle. Can I get you something first?
[ He smiles, friendly and open as he considers the other for a moment.]
Promise anything we have is as safe as we can make it. The city can still interfere but otherwise it's not tainted.
no subject
Kyle. Ah, I think I'm alright for now, thank you.
[ Someone's a bit nervous... ]

What dating app thing? Is it on the device?

For what purpose? I don't need a dating profile.
no subject
That's the best attitude, though I'm sorry about your world.
Yeah well, they think we do. It's mostly about embarrassing us and seeing how we react it feels like.

[ He shrugs. ]
I suspect it mostly works with you because you're personable.
no subject
[ He says it with a hint of sadness, making a bit of a face at that and hating how things would go.
He chuckles at that. ]
I'm glad to hear that. I admit, I'm curious if they chose something you're truly interested in or just wanted to ensure they got my attention.
no subject
[ At least he doesn't think he's under the influence of anything..? He wasn't threatened. :|aaa He would know if they were drugging him right? ]
Probably the latter, I'm obviously interested now but I'd never really heard the term before.
no subject
[ It's one thing he's used to gauge just how things are going for him.
Kyle leans forward, elbows on the bar and consider the other for a moment. ]
So, what kind of things do you like? In general. Warm temperatures? Cooler? Ever toyed with pain play? Spanking or anything like that?
no subject
No. I guess warm?
[ That's the only thing on the list he has any experience with, and even then it's a stretch. ]

No. My opportunity for those sort of things has been... very limited, until now.

Fair enough. I admit, medical school and being a surgeon doesn't offer you much time for it either. A couple of years here changed things though.
[ He barely resisted, just throwing himself into things and seeing what happened. ]
When I talk about things like that, does it give you mental images? Feelings of desire? Or revulsion?
[ Casually talking about sex is not something that Kyle had thought would become part of his life but it really had. ]
