After things with my ex, I kind of went after things to prove I was doing better. I gave up everything for him and I wanted to prove it wasn't like that still. So it might be hard to believe I've changed again.

I get that kind of. I gave up my boyfriend because I thought it was better for him. Not the same, but I get the impulse to do whatever you think will help them.
